All the comfort of a classic apple pie in a convenient, handheld size. These buttery shortcrust pastry pockets are bursting with a warm, spiced apple filling—perfect for a quick dessert or a sweet breakfast treat.
Ingredients
- 1 medium apple, peeled and finely diced
- 0.7 oz granulated sugar
- 0.7 oz unsalted butter
- 0.07 oz ground cinnamon
- 0.03 oz ground nutmeg
- 0.03 oz ground allspice
- 1 sheet pre-made pie crust (shortcrust or puff pastry)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp milk
Instructions
In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Sauté the diced apple with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice until softened.
Cut two circles from the pastry sheet. Place the apple filling in the center of each circle.
Fold the pastry into a half-moon shape. Seal the edges firmly.
Cut a small slit on the surface of each pie to allow steam to escape during cooking.
Combine the beaten egg and milk. Brush the exterior of the pies with the resulting egg wash. Cook at 350°F for 10 minutes.

"A small incision on the pastry surface prevents steam buildup. Flip the pies halfway through the cooking time for even browning."
