Ingredients
- 2 large Russet potatoes, peeled
- 4 cups cold water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
- Ketchup or mayonnaise, for serving
Instructions
Cut potatoes into uniform sticks, approximately 1/4-inch thick. Submerge in cold water for at least 15-20 minutes to remove excess starch.
Drain and rinse the potato sticks. Thoroughly dry them with a kitchen towel.
Preheat the appliance to 385°F (195°C).
In a large bowl, toss the dried potato sticks with oil until evenly coated.
Arrange the potato sticks in a single layer in the cooking basket. Cook at 385°F (195°C) for 20-25 minutes. Shake the basket at the halfway point and again at the three-quarter mark to ensure even cooking.
Immediately transfer the hot fries to a large bowl. Add the Cajun seasoning and toss until evenly coated.

"Apply the Cajun seasoning after cooking. The spices can burn and develop a bitter taste if added prior to cooking at 385°F (195°C)."
