Crispy British Scotch Eggs
A gastropub classic made lighter. A soft or hard-boiled egg is encased in seasoned sausage meat and golden breadcrumbs, air-fried until perfectly crisp and satisfying.
Ingredients
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
- 10.6 oz pork sausage meat
- 0.1 oz garlic powder
- 0.04 oz onion powder
- Pinch of dried sage
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2.1 oz all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1.4 oz breadcrumbs
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the pork sausage meat with garlic powder, onion powder, sage, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and divide into four equal portions.
Flatten one portion of the sausage meat into a patty. Place a hard-boiled egg in the center and mold the meat around it, ensuring a complete and even seal. Repeat for all eggs.
Prepare three separate shallow dishes for flour, beaten egg, and breadcrumbs. Coat each sausage-wrapped egg first in flour, then dip in the egg, and finally roll in breadcrumbs until fully covered.
Preheat the appliance to 350°F. Arrange the breaded eggs in the basket and spray their entire surface with cooking oil.
Cook for 15 minutes. Turn the eggs halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning.
