Ingredients
- 17.6 oz chicken breast, cut into strips
- 6.75 fl oz buttermilk
- 1 tbsp hot sauce
- 5.3 oz all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt, to taste
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
Combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Submerge chicken strips in the mixture and refrigerate for at least one hour.
In a shallow dish, combine flour, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Add one tablespoon of the buttermilk marinade to the flour mixture and mix with fingertips to create small clumps for a textured coating.
Remove chicken strips from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each strip in the seasoned flour, pressing firmly to ensure an even coating.
Preheat the cooking appliance to 383°F. Arrange the coated tenders in a single layer in the basket. Spray generously with cooking oil.
Cook for 12-14 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, flip the tenders and spray any dry flour spots with additional cooking oil.

"Adding a small amount of the liquid marinade to the flour mixture before breading creates a rougher texture, resulting in a crispier crust."
